Welcome to Coffee & Punder!

Updated: Mar 22

Hello, hello! If you've come this far into my website, chances are you know who I am by now. However, there is also a chance that you don't. In the off-chance you need a quick intro to who I am, here is just that:

HELLO, HELLO! I'm Tanya Banerjee, a multi-genre writer born in India, raised in the U.S., and currently based in Vancouver, B.C., in the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. My writing explores the themes of interculturality, race, mental illness, and intergenerational trauma through characters of color. I've worked as a Creative Writing and Arts instructor, a tour guide, a university graduate teaching assistant, and more. I also make music! You can find me writing, making and listening to music, reading, and drinking mochas, often simultaneously at a café.

Which is actually a surprisingly great segue into what Coffee & Punder is about! It's a blog that showcases my coffee adventures in Vancouver and beyond--hence, COFFEE--while tying in my thoughts and insights on writing, music, and art in general, with a healthy dose of puns--hence, PUNDER (PONDER except it's a pun, GET IT??).

WHY am I doing this? Because:

Here I am, looking super happy because coffee, outside Platform 7 in Vancouver, B.C. Photo taken by my awesome friend, Emma, who you can see in the reflection.

Seriously, why am I doing this, though? OK, still because coffee. And to share my experiences! Chronicle some awesome cafes! Share thoughts on art! Impress with my punderful (teehee) puns! Also, because so many of my friends have been waiting for me to do this.

Ready to Join the Adventure?

That is a rhetorical question. Obviously you want to join me on my adventures. And if you don't, well, I'm going to keep on writing anyway! Remember, folks, don't let anyone steal your punder. (I didn't even come up with that one; my friend, Paul, did.)

So, in the meantime, anybody have any cafes they'd like me to try out? Comment below!
